It’s Been a Whole Year!
Saturday the 17th August marks the one year anniversary of Coloring Pixel’s launch. We just wanted to say a huge thank you to all you wonderful people, for the incredible response and support you have all given us during this incredible year. From launch we have been overwhelmed with positive feedback and kind words, and we appreciate all of it. We are surprised daily by the shear scale of the milestones you, the community have broken. Somehow 150,000 of you racked up a cumulative playtime of 280 years (we would have been overwhelmed if we had like 1,000 downloads, never mind this!).
Over the year we have continued to develop and improve on the game based on your suggestions: we have added keyboard shortcuts; accessibility features; night mode; and a whole new music roster. These features, in combination with the hundreds of new levels and newer features such as new game plus and the end of level animation, go to show how much the game has grown over such a short period. I mean even basic stuff wasn’t in the game at launch; you couldn’t restart an image without deleting save files! The settings menu only had a mute button!
We’d also like to take this time to apologise for the lack of interaction with the community in the discussions board in recent months, but we are a small team and had to slow down our work and release schedules due to the stresses and pressures of everyday life, whilst keeping up the progress on Coloring Pixels for all of you. We just wanted to assure you that reaching this 1 year milestone doesn’t mean we will stop development, and we have some things in the works that you will hopefully see soon.
Anyway, enough of the soppy emotional stuff. We are here to celebrate! We alluded to a few surprises earlier in the week, so here we go: we have a new patch for you today (scroll down for more info on that); we are running another pixel art competition (another chance to get your art in the game - why not give it a go); we have a birthday themed level available free for you to complete; and an anniversary 20% sale! Pretty sweet, huh!
Pixel Art Competition!
You may have seen this earlier in the week, but in order to commemorate the milestone of our first anniversary since release, we have decided to run another pixel art competition. For those of you that don’t know, this is the chance to get your art into the game! We ran one last year shortly after launch, and we had some amazing submissions from the community, with the top 20 being selected to form the free Community book!
